DESCRIPTION: \nTrying to unpick mental health concerns and disorders in gifted children is often a very difficult task. Both misdiagnoses and ‘missed diagnoses’ seem to happen frequently. At such an uncertain time what questions will help you decide whether or not something else besides giftedness might be at play for your child? We’ll explore relevant research in the field to gain a better understanding of such a complex subject. \nSessions will be based at West Perth Medical Centre and led by Dr. Kate Burton. Kate’s research and practice explore the intersection between education\, and social and emotional wellbeing. She has a particular interest in students with diverse learning needs\, specifically gifted and creative children and adolescents.
